Thank you for supporting Don Cameron Potato Night!
What a night!
Rangers fans once again showed an outpouring of generosity at the 21st annual Don Cameron Potato Night on Jan. 26, bringing in cash and spud donations to kickstart this year’s February Potato Blitz.
Spuddy and Sweet Potato, along with nearly 40 volunteers, were on hand to receive donations from Rangers fans throughout the evening – and they were kept very busy.
By the time the game against the Saginaw Spirit was over (with the Rangers enjoying a convincing 6-2 win), fans had donated a whopping 7,500 lbs. of potatoes, along with $8,327 in cash donations. Combined with a matching potato donation from Zehr’s Markets, that made the night’s total donation of potatoes – in cash and spud form – a grand total of 48,600 lbs. Well done!
A special thank you to the Saginaw Spirit, who also brought their own potato donations to the game, adding to the grand total. We are also grateful for our continued partnership with the Kitchener Rangers, and Don Cameron. Since Don Cameron Potato Night began 21 years ago, the equivalent of more than 500,000 lbs. of potatoes have been donated.
There are still more opportunities to give throughout the month of February. The Supermarket Potato Blitz is set for Saturday, Feb. 10. Shoppers have the chance to donate cash or potatoes at one of 28 local supermarkets throughout Waterloo Region, between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m.
And, as always, donations can also be made online, or by texting SHARE to 41010 to donate $5 towards this year’s February Potato Blitz.
