Over ten years ago, Eric and Kevin Martin decided to trek the Bruce Trail. To make it more meaningful, they collected donations for House of Friendship’s (HOF) Summer Camp Sponsorship program to send kids from low income homes to summer camp. This inspired Trek 4 Kids hike and bike, an annual trek (run, walk, bike) in early May along the Iron Horse Trail through Kitchener.
This year’s Trek 4 Kids Hike and Bike helped raised $67,000! Thanks to supporters like you, 142 children will be able to attend weeklong, overnight summer camp. We are still accepting donations to help support the Summer Camp Sponsorship Program. If you haven’t already donated, you can still help send a child to camp here.
Trekkers of all ages, individually or with families or in teams, sign up and collect pledges – we provide you with a personal on-line fundraising page and/or print pledge sheets! Trekkers run, walk or bike select distances along the trail.
Corporate sponsors make the day possible by covering event costs to ensure that your pledges help send children to camp. On average, it costs $600 to send a child to overnight camp for one week. Trek Champions pledge to send at least one child to camp. Trekkers aim to send to camp all of the kids who have signed up before Trek, or as many of them as event proceeds allow.
