Charles Street Men's Hostel
The Charles Street Men’s Hostel is a 39-bed shelter that provides emergency shelter and meals for homeless men aged 16 years and older. Staff also provide case work support including referrals and advocacy for the men. A drop-in is also available for men who live in the community.

Basic Admission Requirements

Eligibility: Male, aged 16 years or older with no place to stay.

To apply: Walk in or phone in. Same day registration of new residents

Registration: Primary information on your background and finances

Cleanliness: You are asked to take a shower the first evening and at least twice a week thereafter. Limited laundry for clothing is available.

Medication: Prescription drugs should be left at the front desk for safe-keeping and distribution.

Short term room and board

Individual support by caseworkers, liaison and advocacy for social assistance, referral to other support services, personal support

Drop-in for residents and non-residents: Daily 11:00 am-5:00 pm; 7:00 pm-10:00 pm.

Chapel: Time for meditation and reflections on the spiritual values of life. Sunday night 8:00 pm.
Program Funding and User Fees...
The program is funded by Region of Waterloo Social Services Department, United Way, individual donations and program fees.
Room and board payment is based on income and ability to pay.
