Moving Forward - Services for Women who are Pregnant and/or Parenting children under age 6

Eligibility Criteria

  • Be an adult woman who is pregnant and involved with alcohol and/or drugs

  • Be an adult woman who is parenting a child 0-6 years of age and involved with alcohol and/or other drugs or in recovery from substance abuse.

Assessment & Referrals

  • Substance use assessments completed for any pregnant woman in Waterloo Region/Wellington Dufferin within 48 hours of initial contact. These are the substance use screening tools that are required to access Ontario Addiction Services.

  • Referrals to other addiction services or community agencies are made based on the woman's desires and needs.

Services for Pregnant Women - Program Overview

Moving Forward offers specialized services for pregnant women and women parenting children 0-6 years who are involved with alcohol and/or other drugs. No question is too small, no problem is too big! We are here to listen and support you in your decisions. The following services are available:

  • Outpatient Counselling

  • Substance use assessments

  • Specialized Residential Treatment for pregnant women

  • Information about substance use during pregnancy

  • Mom's in Recovery Groups

This initiative is made available through the Ontario Ministry of Health and Long Term Care.
