Alcontrol - Residential Service for Adult Women

Alcontrol is a 4-10 week, 9-bed residential treatment program for adult women who are concerned about their alcohol and/or drug use.

The program is housed in newly renovated centre, conveniently located in the heart of Kitchener.

A day program called Moving Forward provides individual, group counselling as well as residential treatment for women who are pregnant and/or parenting children under 6, and who are concerned with their substance use.

There are no fees charged to participants in the programs.

These programs are supported by the Waterloo Wellington Local Health Integration Network (WWLHIN)

  • Be an adult woman with a serious substance abuse problem.
  • Be able to participate in a 3-12 week program.
  • Be able to manage personal commitments and responsibilities.
  • Be committed to making a significant lifestyle change.
  • Have stable health status.
  • Inquiries about the program are always welcome.

Program Overview

  • The program is up to 10 weeks long depending on the participant's need.
  • Participants are provided the opportunity to learn about themselves and others, change destructive behaviour and become more confident about their ability to leave without the use of alcohol and/or other drugs. Complete abstinence is required.
  • Participants regularly review their goals and progress.
