Volunteers Make a Difference!
Volunteers are a valued part of House of Friendship and assist staff in providing quality service to program participants.
Over 300 persons volunteer at House of Friendship on a regular basis. This does not include more than 600 Christmas Hamper volunteers. A wide range of volunteer opportunities exist. To learn more contact Tony Bender, our volunteer coordinator at tonyb@houseoffriendship.org or phone 519-742-8327.

House of Friendship is a member agency of the Volunteer Action Centre.
Volunteer Rights & Responsibilities
Volunteers are expected:
- to be sincere when offering services;
- to treat program participants and workers with dignity and respect;
- to treat personal information about program participants and co-workers with strict confidentiality;
- to complete tasks in a responsible way;
- to respect the philosophy of House of Friendship;
- to dress appropriately;
- to be punctual and to notify supervisors when absent.
Volunteers can expect:
- to receive an orientation to House of Friendship's philosophy and programs;
- to be placed in a position suitable to one's interests and abilities;
- to receive supervision and support;
- to be treated with dignity and respect as a co-worker;
- to learn new skills;
- to make suggestions and to be heard;
- to receive thanks for service;
- to gain satisfaction from helping others.
